Great New Finishes for the Cirque Ceiling Fan

The breakthrough Cirque ceiling fan is now available in two terrific new finishes – polished nickel with translucent blades (F596-PN/TL) and mahogany with mahogany blades (F596-MG/BN). This modern, powerful and reliable 54″ 3-speed fan has even more design possibilities with these additional finishes.

The new polished nickel finish with translucent blades lends a gleaming, sophisticated edge to the fan. I can see this one in a glass-walled studio or a cool-toned bedroom or as a contrasting statement in an eclectic room. The shine of the body and the sophistication of the translucent blades add up to an distinctive look.

The mahogany finish Cirque with mahogany blades gives the fan a totally different look from the metal finishes. The mahogany body lends a unity to the design. With the wood finish, the fan fits in well where a warmer look is desired. It is still strikingly contemporary but the effect of the mahogany finish puts a different “spin” on the contemporary look of the design. I envision this fan in a living room, a playroom, in any room in the house!

Since the blade inserts can easily be changed, these new finishes open up many possibilities of customizing your Cirque ceiling fan. I could see the original brushed nickel fan that comes with silver blades now with the optional translucent blades. Or, the mahogany fan with silver or translucent blades. The polished nickel fan with the red/yellow/blue blades sounds like a really fun, exciting fan! You can see the possibilities and the ability to tweak the look to be just what you like. The fans come standard with the blades as shown in the pictures but the additional blade sets are not very costly and can really change the look. You can even change the blades out seasonally or for a special occasion! It is easy to change the blade inserts; you don’t have to take the fan apart to do it.

The Cirque fan is a great air mover. The 54″ fan has a unique 6-blade design – 3 large and 3 small. There are 3 fan speeds in forward and reverse and a removable 50-watt halogen light fixture that is completely dimmable is included. A full function wall switch comes with the fan and a hand held remote control is available. The fan comes with downrods that are good for ceilings of 8 to 9 ½ feet and longer downrods are available for higher ceilings.

Customers love this fan – they tell us that they are really pleased with the way it works and that they get lots of comments on it from guests. It has won the prestigious Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum – read more about that in our blog entry.

So, with all of these new choices, now is a great time to buy this distinctive and functional art for your home.

Classic Acero Ceiling Fan Now Available in New Polished Nickel Finish

The beautiful Acero ceiling fan which is already available in 3 great finishes of brushed nickel, mahogany and brushed steel, and oil rubbed bronze, is now also available in a wonderful polished nickel.  The polished nickel Acero, F601-PN, comes with silver blades.  The Acero is a great air mover and is quite a customer favorite.  It comes with a 100-watt halogen light kit that you can remove and replace with a matching cap to use light-free. The fan measures 52″ from blade tip to blade tip, has 3 speeds in forward and reverse, and comes with a touch control wall switch that controls the speeds and fully dims the light.  A hand held remote is available as are longer downrods if you have a high ceiling.

If you are changing your decor and adding more polished touches or just want a change, this is a great fan for you.  The modern and retro influences intersect beautifully here.  I can see this fan in a mid-century setting, a glass-walled contemporary home, a reclaimed loft with brick walls, over a dining room table in an eclectic living space, in an old barn turned into a design store….  you can continue the list for yourself.  It fits easily into so many decorating themes. Yet, the fan itself makes no design compromise – it is a complete, functional, and beautiful design unto itself. This fan won the Good Design Award (read more in this blog entry).

For me, this fan has a friendly, cheerful, upbeat look to it. I’m not sure how a fan can do this but this one does. I predict that the polished nickel Acero ceiling fan will be a big hit as have the other finishes of the Acero. What is your home environment telling you?

We spend much of our time in our homes – they represent our “caves”, our safe places, where we settle in, our “nest”.  Imagine that you are seeing your home for the first time – what does it convey to you?  Do you see it as it really is right now or differently – perhaps how it used to look, how it is supposed to look, how it would look if….?

I believe that your home environment both reflects you and tells you how to “be”.  There is a two-way connection both from you in the way you have arranged your home and the way you take care of it and from your home to you that represents the “you” that you would like to project.  I don’t mean that there is some phony projection of you for other people but there is a projection of you that you see yourself – what you tell yourself about you.

If there are areas of your home that you dislike or feel less than positive about, these are like those parts of yourself that you would like to change.  No one is perfect so of course we all have these areas both in ourselves and our environment.  Then there are those areas that you feel great in and make you feel happy and secure. I have noticed that when I am in an environment that is just “hits the spot” for me like in someone else’s home, a store, or a hotel room, something in me relaxes and releases so that I can be more “me”.  On the other hand, when I am in an environment that seems dangerous, dirty, or discordant, I feel wary and unsettled and part of me has my attention on that.  I am very conscious of sounds as well as sights - even if I am in a great looking environment but music that I don’t like is blaring, I don’t feel completely comfortable.

It is an interesting exercise to try to see your home as if for the first time.  What do you see?  What would you change?  I had a chance to do this when I sold my home a few years ago.  Our realtor helped us to “stage” the house – he told us to remove everything on our countertops to make the place look bigger.  We had the usual in the kitchen – blender, coffeemaker, toaster oven, etc. and various “things” in our living room like porcelain, etc.  We removed these and put some flowers out. Suddenly the house looked quite different- I almost felt like taking it off the market and staying! Imagine if I had done that before I was selling it.

So, what do you want to project?  Do you want to be more “cool”?  Greener?  Neater?  Less “stuff”? Fancier? More casual? You have the power to make the changes.  Maybe start small, maybe a massive effort, it is your choice!  Have a home that supports you and is more “you”!

Need a Fan With a Light?

Fan with up-light and down-light, Airus F598 at G2Art.com

G2Art Airus Ceiling Fan F598-BN, brushed nickel with silver blades

Many of our customers ask us which ceiling fan gives the most light because they want to use the fan as the main source of light in a room.  For this use, I recommend the Airus ceiling fan, F598. The Airus makes a great fan/light combination.  It has 100 watts of up-lighting on top of the fan that bounces off the ceiling for a great indirect light source and also has 150 watts of down-lighting for more direct lighting.  Both the up- and down-lights are infinitely dimmable and are controlled independently.  So, you have a wide choice of lighting options.  The lights are quite bright on high (250 watts total) or can be dimmed down to an intimate level. The fan uses halogen lighting so the color of the light is pleasing.

The Airus comes in three finishes – brushed nickel with silver blades, white with white blades, and oil rubbed bronze with medium maple blades.  It has three speeds in forward and reverse and comes with a wall switch that controls the speeds and the independent dimmers.  A hand held remote is available as well that works along with the wall switch. It has “two-wire” installation which means that it only needs one switch to control the motor and the light, not two separate switches as some fans do. It has a lifetime warranty on the motor and one year on everything else.  It is UL listed for indoor use.

The glass for the Airus is of designer fixture quality and was especially chosen for its beautiful looks and to enhance the effects of the light.  The brushed nickel and white fans have attractive white acid-etched glass for a great frosted look that diffuses the light beautifully. The oil rubbed bronze finish has a soft, warm look achieved by the use of special excavation glass which has a marbled effect something like alabaster.

The design of the fan itself feels “Zen”- like to me – the calming effect of the repeated outlines of the body and glass seem so harmonious and perfect together.  The simple lines look beautiful without drawing a lot of attention to the fan.

The different finishes enable this fan to enhance many different décor styles.  With a more traditional setting, the oil rubbed bronze fan with medium maple blades would look great. That same oil rubbed bronze fan in a modern setting will also fit right in since the design is so simple.  The white fan is very “light” looking (no pun intended! :) ) and can go across different design styles.  If you have light walls and a white ceiling, the white fan will “blend” in well and look very unobtrusive.  I have also seen it look great against dark walls where it stands out.  The brushed nickel finish with silver blades is the most popular and goes well with contemporary or transition designs and can also be used in more traditional designs where silver colored metals are used.

You can customize the fan finishes by choosing a set of accessory blades if you like the body and glass finish but want a different look for the blades that the ones that come standard with that finish.  Accessory blades are available in cherry and light maple as well as any of the existing finishes which are silver, white, and medium maple.  For instance, the brushed nickel fan looks great with wood finish blades which enable you to use the silver metal but with a “warmer” look. If you have a certain finish or tone to the wood in your room and want to match it with the fan blades, you have the three wood finish options of cherry, light maple, or medium maple.  You can even order the other glass finish as an accessory if for instance you would like an oil rubbed bronze fan with white glass.

Many people have chosen this fan as their kitchen fan since it can be used over the kitchen table or in the cooking area where you would like a lot of light and also would like to be able to reduce the light as needed for different “moods”.  It works well anywhere you might need a light – a bedroom, hallway, living room, etc.

We have had customers who wanted a fan without a light but fell in love with the design and purchased the fan to use without using the light – they simply did not install the light bulbs.  The glass is so pretty that the fan looks just as good when the lights are not on as when they are on.

I think that you can tell that the Airus is one of my favorite fans – I have it in my living room and my sisters and friends have them as well as many of our other customers. It is quite powerful and quiet and I hardly ever have to use it on “high” speed.  When I want to quickly change the air temperature in my living room, I put it on “high” speed to start and then turn it down after about thirty seconds – that is enough even on the hottest or coldest days to bring the air from the top of the room down and start mixing the air.

So, if you need a lot of light or just love the design, you can’t go wrong choosing the Airus fan.

New Gyrette Ceiling Fan, F302

Are you looking for a great fan that will fit into a small space? We get so many requests for a smaller sized fan – I thought about what I would like to have if I had the need for a smaller fan and that is how I came up with the Gyrette
The mighty Gyro fan is extremely popular with our customers due to its versatility and power. If you need a truly, perhaps astonishingly, strong breeze then the Gyro is your man, that is, fan. And you can direct it wherever you choose, and even stop it and have it blow directly at you in your easy chair. The same benefits, on a smaller scale, are provided by the Gyrette fan. Perhaps you need a smaller version of the Gyro, your space being smaller. Or you prefer a daintier, more delicate look… Please take a look at the Gyrette. It is still a very strong performer and will provide very good ventilation for any room of a reasonable size. If you have a large space with two or more separate areas where people congregate, you might want to consider having a Gyrette serving each one of those areas… The fan is not inexpensive but it is good value and affordably priced. I think you’ll like it!

My latest favorite light fixture – the Discoco

Discoco Pendant, white

Discoco Pendant at G2art.com

I LOVE this fixture!  Even the name, Discoco, sounds exciting, alluring, alive, moving, and fun!
Maybe it is because I love to dance but this fixture looks like it makes the light dance! It is so different yet it respects design history in evoking great designs of the past with it’s own unique look. To me it evokes not only the excitement of the disco-ball look but also the natural arrangement of the leaves of a tree or the structure of a berry or pine cone.  So, for me it marries man’s design with nature in a fantastic way.  Thank you, Christophe Mathieu, for this beautiful design.
The Discoco looks great as the highlight of a room or area – perhaps in an entryway, or over a table.  It does come in two sizes so you can pick the best one for you. For a larger area I could see putting several in an array at different heights – WOW!  Imagine an array of these in the lobby of a hotel or in a restaurant.  By the way, if you want a really large version of the Discoco for a contract or hospitality application, please ask us about it as we may be able to get something for you.
You will get comments when you have this fixture – people will definitely notice it!  For me, the most important thing is that I love how it looks since if I have a fixture in my house or where I work I’ll be seeing it day in and day out.  It has got to really hit that sweet spot, not just be OK.  I have had enough of buying things that are OK, I only want to have really special things in my life now. I only wish that I had a place for the Discoco in my house…. If you do, then go for it!
