Can your fans be used outdoors?
We carry models that are specifically designed for outdoor use and are UL Wet Location listed. They are called Indoor / Outdoor fans. The rest of our fans are UL listed for indoor use, and are not designed for wet locations. We do not recommend using non-UL wet location fans on porches or in screened rooms, even if they will not be directly exposed to the elements.


Does the blade dimension refer to the length of each blade or the overall diameter (the blade span) of the circle described by the tip of the blade?
The blade dimension is the diameter (blade tip to blade tip) dimension.


Do I need to have two switch places on my wall to control the fan and light? Will I need a remote control to control the light if I only have one switch place?
No, you only need one switch place to control both the fan and the light, just as if you were installing a light fixture (this is technically called a "two-wire" installation). The wall control has buttons that control both the fan speeds and the light. The wall control sends radio signals to a receiver in the fan so it works just like the hand held remote except that it is attached to the wall and needs no battery.


How does the wall-mounted remote control work?
The wall-mounted remote control is a transmitter that communicates with a receiver in the fan canopy via radio waves. The canopy is the part of the fan that touches the ceiling. The remote comes with a standard size switch plate (the same as any light switch) and can be mounted on the wall in any location that has electrical power. The remote does not have to be mounted on the same electrical line as the fan but it is recommended to install it on the same line. IMPORTANT: The wall remote MUST be wired in series. Please follow installation instructions very carefully. The wall-mounted control can work together with a hand-held remote. You can also use the remote by itself to control the fan without installing the wall control. There is more information about control systems in our "how to order ceiling fans and lights" section.


Does the Acero (or Gyro, Gauguin, Artemis, Cirque, Flyte, Magellan, or Concept I/II) ceiling fan come with a light kit, and can it be used without it?
A light kit is included in the box with the Acero fan and all of the other fans listed above. The fan can be used either with the light kit or with a small matching center cap in place of the light kit.


Can a light kit be added to or removed from the San Francisco ceiling fan?
The San Francisco ceiling fan comes in two versions (without a light kit (F528) and with a light kit (F529)). The light kit cannot be added to or removed from the San Francisco fan - the fan is permanently configured either with or without it.


Can a different wattage light bulb be used instead of the one provided?
If the light bulb has the same base as the original bulb, you can use one with lower wattage if you wish. You cannot use one with higher wattage such as putting a 100 watt bulb in a fan that comes with a 50 watt bulb.


Is the San Francisco fan suitable for low (8 foot high) ceilings? What about other fans?
Yes, all of our fans except for the Flyte can be used on an 8 foot ceiling. All of the single downrod style fans come standard with downrods for 8 foot ceilings. The San Francisco fan has an optional accessory 6 inch downrod available for 8 foot ceiling applications. The Flyte ceiling fan can be used on ceilings as low as 8 foot 3 inches with the accessory 6 inch downrod.

Returns are accepted up to 30 days after purchase and may be subject to a 25% restocking fee. Merchandise must be returned undamaged and with original packaging. All returns must be complete, in acceptable condition and packed correctly.


What are your usual shipping fees?
We offer free shipping on all orders over $200 for items shipped within the continental US. Please email or call for shipping fees to Hawaii, Alaska, US territories, or Canada. We only ship to these locations. We ship fans by FedEx Ground within the continental US; faster shipping is available at additional cost. Note that fan accessories such as downrods and remotes come packed in a separate box from the fan.


What is your PRIVACY POLICY?
G Squared collects information from our customers only in order to process orders – this includes first and last name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, telephone number, fax number, and credit card information (number, expiration date, and security code). We do not share this information with anyone other than the credit card processor in a secure connection from our secure shopping cart. Please contact us by email or phone (see “contact us” on this website) if you would like to review or request a change to the personal information that you have provided to us. This has been our policy since we have posted our website in 1997. We will notify users of any change by posting it here in the FAQs on our website. This policy has been reviewed on June 27, 2010.


Is your website secure?
Our shopping cart is on a secure host verified daily by McAfee with SSL security certificate available. All pages where you enter your customer niformation are on this secure server. When you enter your information, you will see the "secure" indicator on your browser. If you have questions about this, please feel free to email or call us.


What is the warranty on the fans?
The fans carry a limited LIFETIME warranty on the motor. All fans are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase.

The ceiling fans generally ship within two to four days. We ship by FedEx Ground. If you need your fan very quickly, we may be able to ship it by Fedex next day air or 2-day air at a significant additional cost. Our lighting products ship within one to six weeks and can also be expedited at additional cost.
