Step 2 Select the downrod length based on your ceiling height

This fan is OK for standard 8 foot ceilings with optional 6 inch downrod. Optional downrods are also available for high ceilings. To calculate the distance from the ceiling to the bottom of the blades, add the length of the downrod to the dimension on the right of the diagram. For safe blade height subtract this distance from the height of your ceiling at the point where the fan will be mounted and make sure that it is at least 84 inches (7 feet).

The hand held remote will operate the fan independently of the wall switch: if you choose it the wall switch will not have to be installed.
